SAGINAW, Mich. (WJRT) – A controversial social media post by President Trump depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as primates has sparked outrage.

The White House initially defended the post, dismissing the backlash as fake outrage, but it was later removed.

Saginaw Fire Captain and Marine veteran Chedrick Greene, who won the Democratic primary for the 35th State Senate seat, expressed his disapproval of the post.

“Disgust, truly, disgust,” Greene said.

Greene shared that he perceives the post as racist, highlighting his family’s history and the racial overtones he believes are present.

“I do, I do take it as racist,” Greene said. “We have no place for that in our country.”

Greene’s opponent, attorney Jason Tunney, won the Republican primary. However, Tunney’s campaign declined to comment on the post.

Greene criticized the President’s focus and expressed concerns about the impact of his policies on everyday Americans (and…) emphasized the need for the President to address more pressing issues affecting citizens.

“How do we stop the everyday person who has to decide on do I fill up my tank of gas, or do I get some groceries for my kids and myself,” Greene said.
