MID-MICHIGAN NOW NBC25/ FOX66: BAY CITY, Mich. — Governor Gretchen Whitmer joined the campaign trail for Democratic 35th Senate District candidate Chedrick Greene ahead of Tuesday’s special election.

Greene hosted a get-out-the-vote rally and campaign event on Wednesday at UAW Local 362 in Bay City.

Greene is on Tuesday’s special election ballot, facing Republican Jason Tunney and Libertarian Ali Sledz to fill the empty seat.

Whitmer urged voters to turn enthusiasm into votes.

“To see a full room here in Bay City in the middle of the week on a rainy day tells me there’s enthusiasm, and now we’ve got to turn that into action. And I think there’s a lot of good that is happening here,” Whitmer said.

The 2026 special election takes place on Tuesday, May 5.
