Greene secures endorsement of the only Democratic state legislator currently representing mid-Michigan
SAGINAW, MI – Today, Saginaw state Representative Amos O’Neal (HD-94) officially announced his endorsement for U.S. Marine Veteran and Saginaw Fire Captain Chedrick Greene in his campaign for state Senate District 35. The announcement was made at a press conference hosted by UA Local 85.
“This Special Election emphasizes the need for effective, trusted leadership here in Michigan and in Lansing,” O’Neal stated. “With his decades of service at home and abroad, Chedrick Greene has proven that he is a leader his community can depend on. He is the right choice to win, and I know he will fight tirelessly to bring better opportunities to mid-Michigan, lower costs, and protect our families.”
Greene expressed appreciation for the endorsement, “Rep. O’Neal’s support means everything to me. His work shines as an example of what courageous public service looks like. Together in Lansing, we’ll fight to lower costs, rebuild a middle class that has given our communities so much, and protect Michiganders’ fundamental rights.”
Rep. O’Neal is the only Democrat currently serving the Great Lakes Bay Region in the Michigan Legislature. His endorsement is a significant addition to Greene’s robust and diverse support from the Michigan AFL-CIO and other labor unions, VoteVets, and local leaders from every county in the district. The first-time candidate’s momentum continues to accelerate, having launched his campaign just two months ago.
Born and raised in Saginaw, Sergeant Major Greene (Ret.) is a decorated, 30-year U.S. Marine Corps Reserve veteran, 27-year firefighter, and 31-year union member. He worked as District Assistant for the 35th Senate District office from August 2024 through April 2025. A lifelong resident with deep community roots, a big heart for helping his neighbors, and the leadership needed to help Lansing work better for our families, Chedrick Greene is running for State Senate District 35 to make life more affordable, safe and free in mid-Michigan.
The primary and general special election dates for the 35th District of the Michigan Senate are February 3, 2026 and May 5, 2026.
