SAGINAW, Mich. — Following several arrests by ICE officers at a Saginaw Twp. construction site this past weekend, Sen. Chedrick Greene (D-Saginaw) issued the following statement:

“Following the ICE arrests that occurred in Saginaw County on Saturday, July 25, my office and I have been able to get limited information. We continue to work with our federal partners to obtain additional details and monitor developments.

“Everyone, regardless of immigration status, has constitutional rights, including due process, protection against discrimination, and protection from unreasonable search and seizure. We must remain consistent in protecting rights and freedoms for every person.

“While my state-level office does not have legal authority or oversight jurisdiction over federal law enforcement operations, I remain committed to working with leaders at every level of government to protect all families in our Great Lakes Bay Region.”
